This project was a special collaboration for SDG, bringing together one of our founding builders, Arthur Maxwell, and his returning client, Patrice Maughon. When we got the call that PJ was remodeling another space and wanted to team up with Art again, we were thrilled. SDG Architecture appointed Xhelona Musollari as the project lead, forming a dream team to bring PJ’s vision to life.
From the beginning, PJ had some concerns, particularly about the wall of windows and the pitch of her ceiling. She felt it would be a challenge to integrate these elements seamlessly. However, after meeting with SDG, PJ was reassured, knowing she was in good hands. Having already built a strong rapport with Art from her previous home project, communication was effortless, making the process smooth and collaborative.
When asked about challenges along the way, PJ shared, “I was surprised by how much lot clearing had to be done before construction. So many trees had to be removed, which delayed the start of the project.”
Art, who has spent a lifetime working on custom builds, was excited to be involved once again. “PJ is one of my favorite customers, so when she asked me to help, it was an easy yes. She’s a joy to work with and has such a creative vision. My favorite feature of this project is the great room’s window wall, it’s stunning.”
When asked about the timeline, Art simply said, “There are too many variables when it comes to timing. I’m more concerned with getting it right than getting it done fast.” As for challenges, he added, “I’ve been doing custom work my whole life, nothing feels unusual anymore.”
This project was more than just a remodel; it was a testament to collaboration, vision, and craftsmanship. Together, PJ, Art, and SDG transformed a challenge into a breathtaking reality, proving that when the right team comes together, the results are nothing short of extraordinary.
